I'm Wen Qian, born and raised in a lovely tropical country--Malaysia, geographically located near the equator where there is constant daylight all year round, having a generous amount of sunshine occasionally showered with tropical rain. Qianmade?
Inspired by my Instagram hashtag for all my baked goods. It means made by Wen Qian.
What about other online portals that you used to have? What is so special about this qianmade?
Before this, I used to have other pages crafted specifically for my classes and partnerships. This time, I figure that I want something solely for myself; I wanted to do something I love without outside factors and unnecessary pressure that might distort the real values in all things I love.
What kind of measurement system do you use?
I prefer metric system, as inches and ft, oz and F make no sense to me. However, studying architecture in the United States means that I have to use ft and inches. Aside from that, I still fancy metric measurements in all my recipe. Depending on my source, you will still occasionally see cups measurements. I am still working on to make sure there are both measurements in the recipe archive, so stay tuned!

Wait so exactly how many languages do you speak?
Hmm to answer this I will divide all my languages into levels. I am proficient in Chinese, Malay and English, advanced in Spanish, and elementary in Japanese. I also understand dialects such as Cantonese, Teochew, and Hokkien. So occasionally you will find different languages popping out here and there on my blog. Pardon me!
What is your favorite art media?
I really like ALL. But if I had to choose, it has to be watercolor when I am home, and ink while I am traveling. Watercolor is versatile, there is a special quality in it in which your paintings are built up with layers and layers of colors. Whereas ink is definite, it is also my comfort zone, whenever I need to get a quick sketch.
Do you sell your art/bakes or conduct workshops?
I conducted workshops, participated several art walks and sold my artworks for charity events. This would not be my top priority but nevertheless, you can always drop me a message for inquiries.
